March 2016 Newsletter

Hope everyone is enjoying the coming of spring this March, with the expectation of good weather throughout the week!

With the advent of warm weather, comes the desire to spend more time outdoors, to increase our physical and social activity as we emerge from our winter hibernation.

  1. According to an article in the NYT covering a recent study in the Journal of Physiology, long distance running (cardiovascular exercise) is potent in releasing factors toward developing new adult brain cells. That aerobic exercise over resistance weight or interval training is beneficial in neurogenesis and overall brain health!
  2. Thinking about returning to golf? Wondering if there's anything you can do to prep or improve your swing? Look no further--we at DSPT offer Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) screens to address just that! In our screen, used by pro-golfers, we develop individualized drills and exercises to enhance your swing and overall performance.
  3. According to Harvard Health, acupuncture combined with postural re-education techniques are effective in reducing chronic/long-term neck pain by about 20%. This is especially useful for those individuals whose pain has been unresponsive to traditional medical treatment regimens.
